As long as the Sun shines on the Earth, wind power will exist. Since the Sun is
expected to shine for anther 4.5 billion years, wind power is considered a
renewable power source.
In the year 1767 a Swiss
scientist named Horace-Benedict de Saussure created the first solar collector –
an insulated box covered with three layers of glass to absorb heat energy.
Saussure’s box became widely known as the first solar oven, reaching
temperatures of 230 degrees fahrenheit.
With the world focused on going green, most kids are
curious about what they can do to help out the environment. Solar energy is a
great alternative to traditional fossil fuels, but the concept of harnessing
power from the sun can seem abstract to children.
